Boston is one of the best USA city break locations. It’s a compact city, an eclectic mix of historical monuments and modern skyscrapers interspersed with bohemian neighbourhoods. Boston is the perfect city to explore on foot, with most of the major attractions within easy walking distance of one another. Boston Common is the oldest park in America and the starting point of the Freedom Trail, a 2.5-mile (4km) trail that links 16 historic sights associated with America’s early struggle for freedom from British control.

Boston is a fantastic city for a family holiday due to its rich history, diverse culture, and numerous family-friendly attractions. Hop a swan boat ride in the Public Garden, cheer on the Red Sox at Fenway Park, or indulge in some delicious seafood at the iconic Quincy Market. There are also plenty of museums, the aquarium and attractions like the Boston Children’s Museum and the Museum of Science, where kids can enjoy hands-on exhibits.

Cambridge lies just across the Charles River from Boston and is a city in its own right. Two of the most well-known universities in the world, Harvard University and MIT, are found in Cambridge. The area is full of trendy bars, hip cafes, interesting shops, and restaurants just waiting to be explored. Soak up the atmosphere with a stroll around the historic Harvard campus, visit the Peabody Museum of archaeology or simply have a coffee on Harvard Square and enjoy some time people-watching.

With so much to see and do, Boston offers a fun and educational vacation destination for families with kids of all ages.

Boston is very easy to walk around, but when your feet get tired make a beeline for the Boston Library on Copley Square. Not only is it incredibly interesting, it's an oasis of calm in this busy city. The Courtyard Café in the central quadrangle is a great place to have lunch or a coffee.
